I've been pondering what is really
distinctive
about the Alexander Technique, and
I believe
it is the five step process described
in
*The Use of the Self*, particularly
the steps
of changing one's thinking through
inhibition
& then maintaing that change of
thinking/acting
through the gaining of a chosen end.
By and
large, this process has been applied
only
to movement education. I'd be curious
to
know whether anyone thinks that the
distinctive
process would sustain systematic application
to some other end than the improvement
of
movement; I'd be *really* interested
to plan
some practical trials to test the idea.
